Earthy, spiced, and full-bodied, this Sumatra single origin coffee is a medium-dark roast with depth, texture, and a grounded finish. Processed using the traditional wet-hulled method, also known as Giling Basah, this coffee offers notes of black tea, brown spice, and citrus.

This is a beautiful choice for customers who enjoy a bold cup that still has complexity. It is full without feeling flat, earthy without feeling muddy, and especially satisfying as a French press, drip coffee, or espresso-style brew.

Every bag gives back: $1 from every bag sold supports Hero Heal Foundation.

Flavor Notes

This Sumatra single origin coffee has a full and earthy flavor profile with warm spice and a clean citrus lift. The cup opens with black tea, deepens into brown spice, and finishes with a subtle citrus brightness that keeps the roast from feeling heavy.

Its medium-dark roast profile brings out body and depth while preserving enough structure to make the cup balanced. This is a strong option for customers who want a richer coffee with a grounded, distinctive origin profile.

  • Tasting notes: black tea, brown spice, citrus

Origin & Sourcing

This whole bean coffee comes from Sumatra, Indonesia, a region known for coffees with body, depth, and earthy complexity. The coffee is grown at approximately 1,000–1,500 meters above sea level.

The coffee is processed using the wet-hulled method, also called Giling Basah, which gives many Sumatran coffees their signature full body and grounded character. Varietals include Catimor and Typica, and this coffee is classified as Grade 1.

Brewing Guide

This Sumatra medium-dark roast works especially well for French press, drip coffee, espresso-style brewing, moka pot, and AeroPress.

A good starting point is a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio. For example, use 20 grams of coffee with about 320 grams of water. For a fuller cup, use slightly more coffee or a longer extraction depending on your brewing method.

For French press, use a coarse grind and a longer steep time to bring out the full body and brown spice. For drip coffee, use a medium grind and filtered water for a rich everyday cup. For espresso-style brewing or moka pot, use a finer grind and adjust based on your setup.

For the freshest flavor, grind your beans right before brewing and avoid grinding the whole bag at once.
