Smooth, aromatic, and distinctly barrel-finished, this Guatemala Whiskey Barrel Coffee is a specialty whole bean coffee crafted for customers who want something more memorable than an everyday cup. The coffee begins with Guatemalan beans from Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala’s most respected coffee-growing regions, then is aged in former whiskey barrels before roasting.

The result is a medium roast coffee with warm oak character, soft cocoa depth, brown sugar sweetness, and a smooth spiced finish. It is expressive without being heavy, making it a beautiful choice for slow weekend mornings, after-dinner coffee, or a giftable specialty release.

Every bag gives back: $1 from every bag sold supports Hero Heal Foundation.

Flavor Notes

This Guatemala Whiskey Barrel Coffee has a smooth, aromatic flavor profile with layered warmth from the barrel-aging process. The cup opens with whiskey oak and gentle sweetness, moves into cocoa and nougat-like depth, and finishes with warm spice and brown sugar.

The medium roast profile keeps the cup balanced while allowing the barrel-aged character to come forward. The underlying Guatemalan coffee brings medium body, moderate acidity, and a clean structure that pairs well with the richer barrel notes.

Tasting notes: whiskey oak, cocoa, brown sugar, warm spice
Roast level: medium roast
Body: medium, smooth, and rounded
Acidity: medium
Finish: warm, aromatic, and barrel-finished

Origin & Sourcing

This coffee is sourced from Huehuetenango, Guatemala, a high-elevation region known for producing structured, sweet, and complex coffees. The coffee comes from family-owned farms in the municipality of Huehuetenango, where many producers grow coffee alongside food crops such as corn and beans.

The base coffee includes traditional Guatemalan varietals such as Bourbon, Catuai, and Caturra. These varietals are well suited to the region’s elevation and contribute to the coffee’s balanced body, gentle sweetness, and clean finish.

After sourcing, the coffee is aged for a minimum of 30 days in formerly used whiskey barrels before roasting. This aging process gives the beans a warm aromatic quality and adds notes of oak, cocoa, and spice without turning the coffee into a flavored coffee.

This is not a standard single origin coffee. It is a specialty crafted release designed for customers who enjoy unique coffee experiences, small-batch character, and a richer sensory profile.

Brewing Guide

Guatemala Whiskey Barrel Coffee works well for drip coffee, French press, pour-over, and after-dinner brewing.

A good starting point is a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio. For example, use 20 grams of coffee with about 320 grams of water. For a stronger cup, use slightly more coffee or a slightly finer grind.

For drip coffee, use a medium grind and filtered water to create a smooth, balanced cup. For French press, use a coarse grind and a longer steep time to bring out the cocoa, oak, and warm spice notes. For pour-over, use a medium-fine grind and water around 200°F, beginning with a short bloom before pouring slowly in stages.

For the freshest flavor, grind your beans right before brewing and avoid grinding the whole bag at once.
