PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Rich, balanced, and quietly sweet, this Uganda single origin coffee comes from the Rwenzori Mountains, one of East Africa’s distinctive high-elevation coffee-growing regions. Grown between approximately 1,500 and 2,000 meters above sea level, this 100% Arabica coffee offers a full, smooth cup with notes of brown sugar and caramel.
This is a beautiful choice for coffee drinkers who enjoy a medium-dark roast with warmth, body, and natural sweetness without an overly sharp or bitter finish.
Every bag gives back: $1 from every bag sold supports Hero Heal Foundation.
Flavor Notes
This Uganda coffee has a full and balanced flavor profile with comforting sweetness and a smooth finish. The cup opens with brown sugar warmth, followed by soft caramel notes and a rounded body that makes it easy to enjoy as a daily coffee.
Its medium-dark roast profile brings out depth and sweetness while preserving the clean structure of a washed Arabica coffee. It is especially appealing for people who want something richer than a bright light roast, but smoother and more balanced than a heavy dark roast.
- Tasting notes: brown sugar, caramel
- Roast level: medium-dark
- Body: full and balanced
- Acidity: moderate and smooth
- Finish: sweet, warm, and clean
Origin & Sourcing
This coffee is grown in the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda, a region known for high-elevation Arabica coffee and smallholder farming communities. The coffee is grown at approximately 1,500–2,000 meters above sea level, where cooler mountain conditions help support slower cherry development and a more structured cup.
The varieties are primarily SL28 and SL14, both valued in East African coffee production for their cup quality and adaptability. This coffee is washed, which helps create a cleaner, more consistent flavor profile with balanced sweetness and clarity.
The coffee is connected to Busongora North Coffee Farmers’ Cooperative, a farmer-owned and governed cooperative made up of more than 500 participating families. The cooperative model supports traceability, shared quality practices, and stronger opportunities for smallholder producers.
After harvest, the coffee is sorted and processed through local washing stations near the farming communities, then dried, milled, cupped, and prepared for export. This process helps preserve quality from farm to final cup while supporting a more transparent coffee supply chain.
Brewing Guide
This Uganda medium-dark roast works well across several brewing methods, especially drip coffee, French press, pour-over, AeroPress, and espresso-style brewing.
A good starting point is a 1:16 to 1:17 coffee-to-water ratio. For example, use 20 grams of coffee with 320–340 grams of water.
For drip coffee, use a medium grind and filtered water for a smooth everyday cup. For French press, use a coarse grind and a longer steep time to bring out the fuller body and caramel sweetness. For pour-over, use a medium grind and water around 200°F, allowing the coffee to bloom briefly before pouring in stages. For AeroPress, use a medium-fine grind and adjust the brew time depending on whether you want a cleaner or fuller cup.
For the freshest flavor, grind your beans right before brewing and avoid grinding the whole bag at once.
